IDLE WORDS

Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the
presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on earth;
therefore let your words be few.
Eccl. 5:2

“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words
you shall be condemned.”
Matt. 12:37

Eccl. 5:3-7  For the dream comes through much effort, and the voice of a fool through many words. When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! It is better that you should not vow
than that you should vow and not pay. Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the works of your hands? For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.
Eccl. 10:12,14  Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him; Yet the fool multiplies words. No man knows what will happen, and who can tell him what will come after him?
Ezk. 12:25  “For I the LORD shall speak, and whatever word I speak will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, for in your days, O rebellious house, I shall speak the word and perform it,” declares the LORD GOD.’  ”
Matt. 4:4  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’ ”

Matt.15:18  “But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.
Mk.13:11  “When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.
Prov. 18:6-7  A fool’s lips bring strife, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
Lev. 5:4  ‘Or if a person swears thoughtlessly with his lips to do evil or to do good, in whatever matter a man may speak thoughtlessly with an oath, and it is hidden from him, and then he comes to know it, he will be guilty in one of these.

Prov. 17:7  Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool, Much less are lying lips to a prince.
Prov. 17:27-28  He who restrains his words has knowledge, And he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips is counted prudent.
